This is where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) performed the first Friday congregational prayer in Madinah. This gorgeous looking mosque is located near the Holy Quba mosque. This is an historical mosque related to Hazrat Muhammad (SAW).Approximately one hundred Muslims participated in this first Jummahsalah. Amongst them were the Prophet’s (SAW) relatives from Bani an-Najjar who had come to meet him and some from Bani Amr who had escorted him from Quba.Al-Wadi Mosque is situated six kilometers from Masjid-e-Nabwi and 900 meters north of the Quba Mosque.
When The Prophet (SAW) left Quba on Friday to head into Madinah, on the way to Madinah, the people of Banu Salim beseech: “O Prophet of Allah, you stayed at the homes of our cousins for a number of days, reward us too with something, for they will pride themselves over us till the Day of Judgement that you stayed with them”. The Prophet (SAW) dismounted and offered his first Jummah in their locality.
Masjid Jummah was initially built by rocks, then demolished and renovated several times. Before renovation, the mosque had a dome of red bricks, a length of 8 meters, width of 4.5 meters, and height 5.5 meters.
Masjid Al Jummahis located at Wadi Al-Rauna, it is also known as Al-Wadi Mosque. Other names given to Masjid Al Jummah are Bani Salim Mosque and Al-Ghubaib Mosque. The historical Masjid is also commonly referred to as Atikah Mosque due to its link to the land on which it is constructed.
